Malcolm O’ Kelly made his Irish U-21 & Leinster debut in 1994-95, his senior debut against New Zealand in 1997 and has since amassed 92 Senior Caps, been selected for two Lions tours, played for Leinster 183 times & is the only player in the Heineken Cup to have played since the start of the competition 15years ago. We are inordinately and justly proud of his incredible achievements. He is always willing to visit the College when asked, giving of his time, expertise and inspiration to those who wish to follow in his footsteps. He donated both his first Barbarians Jersey & a signed Lions jersey to the College where they have pride of place . He was a fantastic role model for all the younger students of the College and a huge source of pride for the older ones. He had to endure considerable ribbing from one Brian O Driscoll as he tried to stretch normal size Templeogue College socks (to play for the Barbarians for the 1st time in 2000) lest the ‘Mal sized batch’ were not ready in time. Thankfully his blushes were spared & the ‘Mal specials’ got another outing in Thomond Park on June 4th 2010 when they were donned in his final competitive game for the Barbarians vs Ireland.
